About the Centre

The establishment of the Tamil Nadu Open University by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2002, the academic activities began in 2003. As per the G.O.No.192 of Tamilnadu Government, dated 11-10-2021, the Regional centre was established at Mayiladuthurai. Mayiladuthurai Regional Centre is catering academic services to the learner community under the Jurisdiction of four districts namely, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts. It is one among the twelve Regional Centres of TNOU.

Activities

Monitoring and support to the Study Centres such as pre- admission counselling, admission
Making Online admission for TNOU Academic Programmes.
To handle the students and Study Centres grievances for smooth functioning by providing adequate academic supports to them.
To indulge promotional activities to take off TNOU programmes.
To act in bridging learners support services activities between TNOU through the student Support services Divisions and Mayiladuthurai Regional Centre.
To enhance admission through making awareness among the workers in industry and general public.
To impart academic and career counseling to potential learners.
To facilitate to the admission related process under the jurisdiction of Mayiladuthurai Regional Centre
To conduct special admission and grievances redressal camp to the students.
To look after all other academic and administrative support services to the students.

Initiatives

To initiate for acquiring land for construction of own building to Regional Centre in order to provide the support services to the learners at their door steps
To create a learners friendly Regional Centre in providing excellence of support services

Promotional Activities

Promotional materials have been used for promoting the programme of TNOU to the society.
Mayiladuthurai Regional Centre has been issuing the brochures, Pamphlet and conducting spot admission camps to the students.
Create awareness about TNOU programmes and activities to the LSC, LRC and Community colleges under our purview.

A multifunction Printer facility is available for the learners.
A laptop facility is available for learners.
Free wifi internet connectivity available for learners.
Academic counseling has been providing to the candidate those who are seeking support to prior the admission to the TNOU Programmes
