Renewing and updating the Curriculum is the essential process of any vibrant University's academic system. There ought to be a dynamic Curriculum with necessary inclusions and changes incorporated in it from time to time by the respective university with a prime objective to maintain an updated Curriculum and also providing their inputs to take care of fast paced development in the knowledge of the subject concerned. Revising the Curriculum should be a continuous process to provide an updated education to the students at large
Curriculum Development Cell (CDC) of the Tamil Nadu Open University takes care of curricula planning and implementing strategies, developing innovative academic programs as per the specialty of the University. It also identifies emerging areas of academic engagement and decides whether academic programs and courses are appropriately delivered and adequately rinsed the curricula periodically and follows feedback mechanism on curricular aspects
A Curriculum Development Cell has been activated with full strength in the University as per the restructuring and revamping of the academic and administrative structures to take initiatives in restructuring the entire curricula of TNOU Programmes periodically. Based on the UGC Regulations and TANSCHE guidelines, and accomplishing the objectives of the University in equipping Learners with multi-disciplinary and multi-tasking skills in Open and Distance Learning, the Curriculum Development Cell formulates the Programme Project Report (PPR) and syllabus of each Programme of study. The Tamil Nadu Open University has made several strides in the curricular development for all academic programs of TNOU in the Open Distance and Online Programme.
The Curriculum Development Cell is playing a vital role in the Tamil Nadu Open University especially in activities related to curricular designing which involves the formulation of general academic programs, a scheme of course delivery and examinations for all Short term Programmes, Certificate, Diploma, Advance Diploma, Vocational Diploma, UG, PG, and Research Programmes. The above brings out the operational common guidelines and the strategies of teaching evaluation as per the Open, Distance Learning and Online Learning Regulations 2020, TANSCHI, and other Regulatory Bodies.
The CDC also engages itself in monitoring the conduct of Part I, Part II, Part III and Learners, Choices Courses in Tamil Nadu Open University which are aimed at the holistic development of our students under CBCS.
The broad activities of the CDC are as follows:
To interact with the subject experts in India and abroad and involve them in designing and developing curricula for enhancing the quality of teaching and learning and exchanging of expertise for the mutual benefit through knowledge sharing networking as per the ODL and Online learners Regulations.
