Student Welfare and Placement Cell (SWPC)


The Student Welfare and Placement Cell (SWPC) came into existence in the Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU),Chennai on 26th July, 2016 for providing the academic and co-academic assistance and facilitating   the employment opportunities to the students of the University. The credit of establishing the SWPC indisputably goes to Prof. M. Bhaskaran, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, TNOU, who has envisaged the principles of welfare and placement that are to be offered to the students of the University on par with the face-to face institutions.

The main objectives of the SWPC are to:

  • liaison with the various Schools of Studies and supportive Divisions for setting right  the grievances of the students
  • create awareness about the employment opportunities among the students
  • provide employment trainings for students through online

This Cell is regularly addressing the queries and grievances, if any from the students through email, for which the appropriate replies are obtained from the respective Schools and Divisions of the University.

The TNOU has also signed Letters of Agreement with the Schoolguru Eduserve Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai and the Soft Source Technology Pvt. Ltd, Chennai, the leading online educational sectors, for introducing the Employment Linked Skilling Programme (ELSP) and the Parallel Education and Employment Programme (PEEP) respectively. These Programmes shall be helpful to inculcate  the employable skills among the students of the University through online mode. In addition, it is also proposed that the students, who pursuing any one of the above Programme shall be facilitated with the internship and the placement by the trainers.
