January 2005

The date for the B.Ed Entrance Examination was reviewed in view of the Tsunamy havoc. It was decided to hold the Entrance Examination on the 23rd January 2005.

TNOU was represented in the COL-sponsored Workshop for policy advocacy for agriculture education/extension and TNOU Consortium Meeting during 10 - 12, January 2005 at Coimbatore. 

 

February 2005

CEMCA (Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia), a sister-organization of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) used the consultancy services of Dr. K. Murugan to train faculties in various Universities in Sri Lanka.

March 2005

The Vice-Chancellor became the Chairperson of AICTE's All India Board for Postgraduate and Research in Technology Education.

The Vice-Chancellor became a Fellow of the Indian Society for Technology Education (ISTE).

Fifth Meeting of the Syndicate was conducted.

A State-wide training programme in the design of self-learning materials was conducted.

A seminar for BEd Coordinators and counsellors was conducted. 

June 2005

Zonal Meetings were conducted to select the Learning Resource Centres (LRC).

July 2005

The Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) requested TNOU to facilitate a 5-day workshop for its scientists in the Development of Self-Learning Materials (SLM). Professor K. Murugan conducted the Programme, sponsored by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in Coimbatore.

August 2005

TNOU hosted a one-day Roundtable Conference on the topic "ICT-enabled Distance Teacher Education" jointly sponsored by the Distance Education Council and the National Council for Teacher Education.

The 1st Planning Board of the University was held.

Dr. M. Murugan joined the University as Reader in the School of Sciences.

The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu launched the TNOU website, gave away the self-learning materials prepared in-house and SAF Scholarships and released the News Letter in Tamil. Photos
